ProtoGenie™ Origins And The Developer

Why ProtoGenie™?

ProtoGenie came into being in the course of a five-year series of vision studies conducted by Pasadero, Inc. and the School of Optometry, University of California at Berkeley as a reaction by project researchers to constant communication problems with software developers and runaway programming costs. See Communication Gap ProtoGenie was both designed and written by researchers. This innovative course of action was made possible by grants from the National Eye Institute and the facilities and expert assistance provided by the UCB School of Optometry.

Development was funded in part by the Small Business Innovation Research Grant Program of the National Eye Institute, Phase I and II, R44 EY12444- (01-02), entitled “Software Toolkit for Basic & Applied Vision Research.” Without this support, it is likely that ProtoGenie would not have happened.
