Making & Integrating Additional Support Events
You have created the major measurement and treatment events for this protocol for two groups, the treatment group and the control group. Additionally, you have made two support events, a welcome page and an end page. Also, you have made sure that the seven events in both groups are operating the way that they should. The "tactical" or "operational" part of research protocols (by which we mean treatments and measurements) is vital, but much of what has to be done in the conduct of a study involves support and management - and these tasks have to be carefully spelled out too. As indicated earlier, there are five "types" of Support Events, namely Study Context (study setting and conditions.), Guidance Events, Schedule Events, and Unspecified Support Events
We will be applying all of these types of support events except the Unspecified Support Events. In particular, we will create two study context events, a sampling instruction event, several special instruction events, a scheduling event, and a couple of subject and session supervisor name events. These will be inserted in their proper sequence in both groups.
[In the general case, Support Events are the same for all groups. This is true for the "Effects of Animation" study for this tutorial. Logically, if Support Events were different across groups, then they might act as "interventions" (treatments) and thereby confound the results of the experiment. However, there are times when these events will differ from group to group.]
