Spelling Out the Design

In this study we decide to take a pair of measurements before and after the treatment, the first asking for the juror's opinion of the defendant's guilt or innocence followed by a question about how strong they feel about that opinion.  Also, we know that we will need a welcome page and an end page, both of which are support events.  Therefore, an elaborated design looks like this:

Treatment Group            S        M        M        T        M         M        S
Control Group                   S        M        M        (  )      M         M        S

In this diagram, the "S's" represent support events, the "M's" represent Measurement Events, the "T" stands for Treatment Event, and the closed parentheses "(   )"  stand for a Null Event.

We will start by making the Treatment Group and the primary events (above) that will go into this group, including the Welcome Page, pretest measurements, the treatment event, the posttest measurements and the End page, in that order.

Then, we will create some additional support events to guide the experiment and Sequencing them in the treatment group.  In the final step, we will duplicate the whole treatment group and make the new group the Control Group by substituting a null event for the treatment event.
